Abstract: The article discusses the diminished security of partnerships at law firms in the U.S. Increasingly, firms are discharging partners who fail to meet annual goals for revenues or billable hours. A survey of 150 law firms found that 15% plan to fire partners during the first quarter of 2013. An economic downturn that has reduced demand for legal services has helped fuel the trend.
