Abstract
- The article discusses a research to understand the reduction of mortality in patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI) with cardiogenic shock who undergo intraaortic balloon counterpulsation. It reports that the cohort study was undertaken in 600 patients and highlights that the safety outcomes included stroke and peripheral ischemic complications. The study highlights that intraaortic balloon counterpulsation did not reduce the mortality risk in patients with acute MI.
