Abstract
- The article discusses a study that evaluated the impact of a web-based educational program, Helping Smokers Quit (HSQ), on improving nurses' performance of advising and referring hospitalized smokers to quit. The study was conducted in California, a low tobacco prevalence state and in Indiana and West Virginia, which reported high tobacco prevalence. The results revealed a significant improvement in the nurses to assess, advise and maintain the consistency of referral of smokers to quit.
