Abstract

The article discusses the results of a study that evaluated the correlation of circulating nucleosomes with the inflammatory response severity and mortality of children with severe meningococcal sepsis. Some factors associated with nucleosome levels are organ dysfunction scores, cytokines and coagulation parameters. It concludes that protein C administration on children with meningococcal sepsis does not reduce nucleosome levels in these patients.
