Abstract

The article focuses on the growing concern over horse meat of retired or damaged racehorses from the U.S. due to potential presence of drugs which are too toxic to eat safely. Tufts University's veterinarian Nicholas Dodman mentions that one would be reckless if one wants to have drugs administered to racehorses in one's food chain. Meanwhile, spot check of drug use and random residue tests were done in the slaughterhouse run by Stephan Giguere in Quebec.
