Abstract

An essay is presented on the American ceramic artist Tim Rowan. The author discusses his materials and home workshop Stone Ridge, New York, his influences including his local landscape and an apprenticeship in Japan and his handbuilding technique. The author describes Rowan's sculptures as abstract and relates them to both the human body, nature and mechanical forms.
