Abstract

The article discusses the legal ramifications related to the cancellation of the 2012 New York City Marathon. The New York Road Runners Club (NYRR) have been in negotiations with its insurance broker Lloyd's over money that race organizers can reclaim since the race was canceled due to Hurricane Sandy. In addition, the negotiations have covered the nonrefundable entry fees paid by runners, as well as money used for advertising and ticket sales.
