Abstract

The contents of total lipids (TL), individual lipid classes, and photosynthetic pigments (PSP) from the brown alga Fucus evanescens (C. Agardh) from different habitats (Kuril Ridge, Sea of Okhotsk, and Rudnaya Bay, Sea of Japan) and the antimicrobial and hemolytic activity of the lipids were studied. It was shown that the habitat, alga collection time, and age of its tissues were important factors that affected the contents of TL, separate lipid classes, and PSP and their biological activity. Lipid FA affected the manifestation of their biological activity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
