Abstract
- The article presents guidelines for a pharmacist-focused approach to improving outcomes in patient with multiple sclerosis (MS). Therapy goals for MS include controlling symptoms, preventing the progression of the disease, improving function and reducing long-term disability. A short course of high dosage corticosteroids are commonly given to manage acute symptomatic exacerbations of MS. Other drugs for MS treatment include mitoxantrone, natalizumab and oral therapies.
