Abstract

Introduction: Sialolithiasis is one of the most common disease of salivary glands. The incidence of the disease in adult population is 12/1000. However, most of the salivary gland stones occur on the submandibular gland and or its duct. Clinically, recurrent and painful swellings that affects the sakvary gland or its duct can be seen. Material and Method: In this case report, a giant submandibular sialolithiasis that opened to the floor of the mouth spontaneously was presented. Conclusion: The treatment of sialokthiasis can varies according to the localization of the stone, duration of the symptoms and the size of the stone. In this case, the stone diat erupted to the mouth spontaneously was removed surgically. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
