Abstract
- Objective: This study aimed to determine the accuracy and correctness of an apical locator Foramatron IV in single-rooted pieces, either vital or nonvital pulp Material and method: We conducted a clinical study, comparing 30 patients of both sexes, aged between 16 and 62 years old who required root canal treatment. This study has as objective to determine the accuracy and correctness of an apical locator, Foramathon IV on the canal of single rooted pieces, either with vital or nonvital pieces. We compared the accuracy in measuring the working length using conventional radiographic method with the locator Periapical and apical Foramatron IV. Results: The results showed that when comparing a clinical comparative study was made with 30 patients of both sexes, aged between 16 and 62 years old who requerided root canal treatment. Vital and nonvital pieces were considered for the study. Accurancy in measuring the work lenght was compared using conventional radiographic method, with periapical radiograpghic method with periapical radiographics and the apical locator, Formaton IV compared with the use of periapical radiographs, there were significant differences (p = 0.0005) reaching the apex locator to 96% accuracy, whereas radiographic method, we obtained an accuracy of 56%. No significant difference in the accuracy of radiograph according to the vitality of the pizzas dental pulp (p = 1.000). Conclusions: apex locator Foramatron IV is more effective in determining the radiograph in vivo, that the conventional radiographic method. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
