Cardiac rehabilitation is a set of activities aimed at returning the patient as soon as possible to physical, mental, social and professional conditions. One of the most common reasons for undergoing a stationary or ambulatory cardiac rehabilitation is myocardial infarction. Many types of various rehabilitation programs were described and applied depending on the mode of serving, type and duration of physical training. Their goal was not only the improvement of physical performance but also the achievement of other benefits like reduction of increased blood pressure, increase of myocardial perfusion, or reduction of the occurrence of new cardiac events. However, the most important effect of cardiac rehabilitation is the improvement of survival following myocardial infarction. The sooner after infarction the rehabilitation begins, the more benefits it will bring to the patient. Long-term rehabilitation programs are commonly used and, in fact, are effective. However, there are reports in recent literature indicating the significant benefit of even short rehabilitation sessions. Nowadays, complex cardiac rehabilitation is a modern multidirectional form of treatment. Although physical training is an important part of this process, recently more and more attention is given to the education as a form of secondary prevention. Therefore, in many centres, educational meetings with a psychologist, physician, physiotherapist, nurse, dietician are organised for the patients.
