Abstract

A conference paper about the impact of Western tradition on political thought regarding the prospects for good government is presented. It mentions that the conflation of the Athenian regime with majority faction has overlooked misreading of classical texts from antiquity. It adds that the misreading of the lessons to be learned from the history of Athenian democracy has given rise an anti-democratic public rhetoric.
