Abstract

A conference paper about quantitative analysis on voter decisions related to prevailing local economic conditions in the U.S. is presented. It discusses economic data for testing the ability of sociotropic models of voting behavior including local dependence on the agricultural sector for the outcome of the referendum at the county level. It examines immigration including passage of Arizona immigration law which has become an important political issue in the U.S.
