Abstract
- In this paper we consider landmark-based image registration with compactly supported radial basis functions. Since using globally supported functions, as for example radial basis functions, a single landmark pair change may influence the whole registration result, in 2001 Fornefett et al. introduced the use of Wendland's compactly supported functions to define landmark-based image transformations [6]. Here we propose transformations defined by means of another family of compactly supported radial basis functions, known as Gneiting's functions [7, 5]. Firstly, we briefly review their definitions and properties. Secondly, numerical experiments are presented, where we compare Gneiting's functions with other interpolants. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
