Abstract
- The article presents a research study that investigated the effectiveness of stroke volume variation (SVV) shown by the Vigileo-FloTrac system in predicting fluid responsiveness in patients undergoing airway pressure release ventilation (APRV). An overview is provided for both APRV and the Vigileo-FloTrac system. Methods are described including the automated calculation of SVV and the experimental protocol. Results are discussed indicating SVV acceptable levels of sensitivity and specificity.
