Abstract

The article presents a study which examines the drifting snow climate of ice sheet in Greenland using an output from a high-resolution regional climate model. The study uses an automatic weather station (AWS) observations from the K-transect. The study reveals that the drifting snow is not significant during summer when near-surface wind speeds are lower while the surface snow density and associated threshold friction velocity increase due to melt.
