Abstract

An essay is presented in which the author discusses her experiences teaching a graduate-level elementary teacher education course entitled "Literacy, History, and Social Science" at Stanford University. The article also discusses the Performance Assessment for California Teachers (PACT). She also discusses the findings of several articles published in the journal on the topic of history education in teacher education programs.
