Cardiac Involvement in Hereditary Ataxias.

Although much attention has been focused on the neurological sequelae of the hereditary ataxias, patients with these conditions also may develop cardiac complications that represent a significant cause of disability and even death. In this article, the authors describe the hereditary ataxias with known cardiac involvement, discuss underlying causes, and review guidelines for screening and treatment.
