Abstract

The article discusses research describing a supramolecular approach for improved methane (CH4)-oxidation catalysts in which single units composed of a palladium (Pd) core and a ceria (CeO2) shell are deposited onto a functionalized hydrophobic alumina (Al2O3). Topics include the environmental impact of CH4, which is a potent greenhouse gas (GHG), the need for improved CH4-oxidation catalysts to reduce CH4 emissions and improve the performance of gas turbines, and a structural analysis using electron microscopy and other methods to examine the activity for methane combustion under various temperature conditions.
