Abstract

The article reports on the advantages of using composts in a crop production system by American farmers. Farmer Tim Stark mentions several benefits he reaped for compost utilization including the improvement of agricultural soils with higher organic matter, suppression of plant diseases, and enhancement of water retention. It says that composts are generally applied in rotation at a rate of more or less 10 tons per acre every three to five years. Moreover, it also cuts irrigation system.
