Abstract
- We analysed the relationships between paper and pencil speed of processing measures, inspection time and intelligence using confirmatory factor analysis in a sample of 200 secondary school students. Our results show a clear relationship between paper and pencil tests and crystallised intelligence. The relationships between inspection time and intelligence, however are less clear: inspection time is at least related to fluid intelligence and a perceptual speed factor. Paper and pencil measures were also strongly related to scholastic achievement. This is consistent with their high loading in crystallised intelligence. Paper and pencil measures could therefore be used to predict scholastic achievement. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
