Abstract
- The article presents the works of Jamaican painter Roberta Stoddart which charts a journey of consciousness and transformation. It discusses the work of Stoddart which involves a process of deep questioning and deals the psychic legacy of slavery. It highlights paintings in the portfolio of Stoddart which handle the question of slavery frontally, such as Tools of the Trade and Black Pearls, which use the symbol of the slave ship.
