Abstract
- The article considers the Rose Bowl football game and Tournament of Roses parade in Pasadena, California on New Year's Day. The origins of the two events as a means of marketing Pasadena's mild winter weather to other regions of the U.S. is noted. The Rose Bowl's history as a rivalry between the Big 10 and Pacific 12 conferences is examined.
