Tenascin-C in astrocytic tumors

The authors studied the expression of tenascin-C in 52 astrocytic tumor specimens and correlated it with proliferative indices. Tenascin-C immunoreactivity was found to be greater in tumor vessels and tumor networks of high-grade astrocytic tumors, and expression of TN-C in tumor vessels correlated with proliferative indices. They conclude that TN-C contributes to malignant progression, and that increased expression of TN-C in tumor vessels with a high proliferative index indicates that it may be involved in neoplastic angiogenesis.
