Magnetic studies in <f>Ce1−xUxPd3(0⩽x⩽0.3)</f> alloys

Abstract
- We present bulk magnetization and <f>140</f>Ce local susceptibility (<f>χloc</f>) results for the alloy series <f>Ce1−xUxPd3</f>. The compounds upto <f>x=0.3</f> form in single phase with <f>AuCu3</f> type FCC crystal structure. With increasing U content, the alloys show higher effective magnetic moment (<f>μeff</f>) and smaller (<f>θP</f>) values. The <f>χloc</f> data reveal large reduction of Ce Kondo temperature with U concentration. We believe, interaction between Ce-4f and U-5f band electrons play an important role on the magnetic behaviour of these alloys. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
