Abstract

Magnetoresistance measurements have been performed on CeNiSn at low temperatures down to 35 mK and in magnetic fields up to 20 T. Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations, observed for the first time, provide clear evidence that CeNiSn, formerly called a Kondo semiconductor, is a metal. The frequency and associated effective mass are 65 T and 13<f>me</f> for the field direction parallel to the crystallographic <f>c</f>-axis. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
