The article examines business communication in international business enterprises with operations in the U.S. and Asia. The need for telephone calls or online conferences to supplement e-mail messages is noted. Suggestions are presented for coping with the difficulties for direct interpersonal communication posed by the large difference in time zones between the two locations including business etiquette issues, planning of communications and the advisability of using telephone landlines.
