Abstract

The article discusses active queue management (AQM), examining how it can be used to manage buffers and control queue delay. The article proposes Controlled Delay, of CoDel, an approach to AQM which could be used on the Internet and tested on Linux-based routers. The article discusses the bufferbloat problem, CoDel's algorithm, and link rates and packet-sojourn time in CoDel. The article provides information on simulations which were used to test CoDel, data packets at different bandwidths, and dynamic link testing.
