Abstract

A series of N,6-diaryl-2-thioxo-4-methyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyrimidine-5-carboxamides were synthesized by a three-component reaction of acetoacetanilide (2-methylacetoacetanilide; 2,4-dimethylacetoacetanilide; 4-chloroacetoacetanilide) with a mixture of aromatic aldehyde and thiourea. All structures are confirmed by IR, PMR, and C NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. All synthesized substances are characterized with respect to antimicrobial activity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
