Abstract
- The article presents a history of advertising posters for touring theatrical productions of melodramas at the turn of the twentieth century, including color printing techniques, depictions of scenes from plays, printer David Allen and his poster firm David Allen & Sons. The article discusses theatrical productions in the West End district of London, England, the popularity of American printing, and posters for plays such as "D. T. or Lost By Drink," "Soldiers of the Queen," and "Called Back."
