Colleges Turn to Private Sector as State Support Lags.

The article focuses on innovative partnerships between colleges and the private sector. The decrease in public funding for schools and the shortage of skilled manufacturing workers are presented as leading a number of states to partner with businesses to train and educate students. The partnerships that aim to give students a headstart on a four-year degree, provide needed labor, and lessen student debt are discussed such as the University of Central Missouri's "Innovation Campus."
