Abstract

Based on theoretical arguments concerning the nature of reality by Jacques Lacan and Slavoj Žižek, the article discusses how the architecture and aesthetics of the National Socialist concentration and extermination camps at Auschwitz and Birkenau reflect a conglomerate of Nazi and Volkisch ideology, the Nazis' anti-Semitic, genocidal utopia of a world without Jews, and the actual horrors of the concentration camps.
