Methylation of cadmium with vitamin B 12 : A possible method of detoxification.

The in vitro reaction between Vitamin Methyl B12 and CdCl2 was studied at pH 9.6. Volatile cadmium compounds such as Cd(CH3)2 were sought using a G.C.‐A.A. system designed for such studies. Low concentrations (2 × 10‐9 g Cd) of volatile Cd compounds were detected but characterization was not possible by G.C.‐M.S. because of the low concentration. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
