Abstract

The article reports the discovery of Megachile ericetorum, a Western Palearctic bee species in southern Ontario which is new to the Western Hemisphere. Megachile ericetorum is known to nest in cavities in stems and wood, the nesting habitat of many native Megachile. It says that this species have the opportunity to establish in the area of Europe because the calcareous grassland is directly adjacent to a former landfill.
