Are most maternal deaths from pre-eclampsia avoidable?

The author discusses the report from the Confidential Enquiries into Maternal Deaths (CMAE) which reveals that substandard care has resulted in 20 out of 22 deaths related to pre-eclampsia in Great Britain. He identifies the report as disturbing as the organization considered the death as undoubtedly avoidable.
