Abstract

In this article the authors discuss a population-based active surveillance cohort study on influenza which was implemented in Lima, Peru in 2009 by the United States Naval Medical Research Unit Six, the Peruvian Ministry of Health, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Armed Forces Health Surveillance Center. They are supportive of population-based active surveillance and of public health collaborations between developing and developed countries .
