The article discusses the status of the African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) as of December 2011. The role of the UNAMID in monitoring the mid 2011 Agreement for the Adoption of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur, Sudan between the Sudanese government and the Liberation and Justice Movement is discussed. An overview of displacement, rule of law, human rights abuses and governance is provided. An overview of the the UNAMID peacekeeping forces in Darfur, including its civilian personnel and police, is also provided.
