Abstract
- Politicians are steadily becoming less prestigious in many countries, and Spanish citizens consider them now as the third most important problem. The media influence on this development has raised an interesting debate. Some authors attribute the main responsibility of this loss of prestige to the media, whereas others deny the negative direct influence of them. This article, based on a survey conducted by the authors in Navarra (Spain), examines the relationship among the public perception of politicians, political parties and politics and the media use level. The data analysis allows to conclude that a higher use of the media is associated with less negatives and more moderate perceptions about politicians, parties and politics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
