Abstract

The article discusses Canada's efforts to control houseflies during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Particular focus is given to the 1912 public health campaign, known as Swat the Fly, which encouraged children to eradicate houseflies in Toronto, Ontario. An overview of houseflies' relationship with disease and mortality rates is provided.
