Abstract
- The article presents discussion of music education and its inclusivity. It is asserted that music programs should not be an elitist or exclusive subculture within schools but should be made to reach a majority of the student population. Suggestions on ways to promote more student inclusion are then given, such as developing alternative classes and curricula which appeal to students more than classical ensembles, shrinking class sizes to increase teacher-student engagement opportunities, and offering classes in popular instruments such as guitar.
