Abstract

The article looks at the impact of climate change on the ecology of Hudson Bay, Canada, focusing on the entry of killer whales into the area due to melting sea ice. The invading orcas prey upon threatened marine mammals such as bowhead whales, beluga whales, and narwhals. It is feared that killer whale predation will also interfere with legally-protected whale hunting by the Inuit population. Also discussed is the effect of global warming on harbor porpoises, bowhead whales, and grey whales.
