Abstract
- The article discusses the development of integrated eye care in the U.S. and the benefits and limitations of this practice model. A historical overview of the optometric practice in the country is presented, along with the relationship between optometry and ophthalmology and the importance of primary care optometrists. It also explores integrated eye care models including the private practice optometric co-management, referral center co-management and vertically-integrated co-management models.
