Abstract: Abstract: Chemoenzymatic asymmetric synthesis of antidepressant agent venlafaxine and its analogue have been reported in this communication. The main highlight of the reported synthesis is the stereoselective synthesis of cyanohydrins by (S)-hydroxynitrile lyase (Hevea brasiliensis) followed by lipase catalyzed kinetic resolution.
