Abstract
- The article discusses the meeting of a panel of educational experts, convened by the U.S. Department of Education, and their progress in developing federal rules to ensure that schools of education produce effective teachers. Topics explored include accountability for teachers' colleges, the federally funded Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) grants program for teacher training, and the role of states in evaluating teacher education programs.
