Infections in Surgery of Primary Tumors of the Sacrum.

The article discusses a study which evaluated the risk of infection, related treatment, and result following surgery of the two most common primary sacral tumors. Eighty-two patients with sacral chordomas or giant cell tumor (GCT) treated between 1976 and 2005 were studied. Some factors affecting the risk of infection were observed by Kaplan Meier curves and log-rank test. The study showed that no deep infections were seen in the GCT series.
