Abstract

This article has experimentally investigated and modeled the influence of variables such as hole angle, fluid rheology, cuttings size, circulation rate, and annular size on cuttings transport velocity using the concept of minimum transport velocity (MTV). The proposed method was checked against field values and has produced excellent results. The results obtained from this model were compared with Larsen's (1997) model and insignificant differences were observed. The result shows that this work can be utilized as a superior tool in drilling of directional and horizontal wells in Iran. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
