Abstract
- The article discusses cyberbullying, the use of the Internet and similar digital technologies to deliberately and repeatedly harm others, and ways librarians can help prevent it. According to the article, cyberbullying is represented in behavior such as harassment, impersonation, and cyberstalking. The authors discuss which teens are most likely to be both victims of and participants in cyberbullying, noting that offline behavior is often an indicator. Suggested ways that librarians can help include emphasizing online disclosure of personal information, positive online social interaction, and online empathy. Also included are laws and policies regulating cyberbullying reporting, program ideas to educate and increase awareness, and a list of resources that provide further information.
