Abstract
- The article presents a study which evaluates ameliorating effects of short-chain inulin-like fructans (SIF) with differing degrees of polymerization (DP) on the trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS)-induced colitis in rats. It states that the study monitored fecal myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity and IgA concentration. It concludes that DP4 significantly reduced colonic inflammation accompanied with higher concentrations of short-chain fatty acids.
