Abstract

The article presents a case study examining the failure of the government of Guinea-Bissau to maintain economic development, political stability and democratic governance in the country. Topics including the legacy of Guinea-Bissau as a colony of Portugal, the ideological legacy of state-socialism and the legacy of the country's political leaders are discussed.
